Quilt printmaking

Activity: In this activity, we made a quilt making printmaking. This was a super fun activity that helped us learn the basics of our own unique designs in printmaking. We made our own design by tracing our design with a pencil on a styrofoam square. We then chose two different colored squares of construction paper and chose what color ink we wanted to use for our quilt. Once we had our color, we used a roller to roll out the ink until it became tacky and even. Then we took our design and rolled the ink onto the styrofoam and transferred it to our construction paper. We repeated that on every square and placed it onto a bigger piece of construction paper in a pattern.

Extension Activity: I would use this activity to introduce different shapes to a younger level. I would challenge them to pick 4 different shapes we have just learned and draw them out as their designs for their quilts. They can also use them to learn about patterns and let them choose their own patterns out of their shapes.
