Activity: In this lesson, we learned about Vincent Van Gogh. We learned about his paintings and unique his paintings were. We were given some examples to go off of and then chose what we wanted to paint. I chose to paint a vase with different colored flowers. We traced out our pictures and started to paint small amounts at a time, before the paint dried, we took a fork and made designs in the paint. We made zigzags, swirls, pokadots and more.
Extension Activity: I would use this activity in a science lesson about cells. Cells have so many different lines and swirls, this would be a great way for the students to design and paint a cell including the details that go into it. I would give the students either a plant cell as well as an animal cell and have them draw and paint both to compare the differences.
