Emphasis
I chose this picture for Emphasis because it really focuses on the details on the leaf. The background is pretty blurry and the main leaf has a very clear emphasis. Value
I chose this picture for value because it is showing the lightness and darkness through the shadow of the leave onto the ground.
Texture
I chose this picture for texture because even through a picture you can almost imagine exactly how this feels. The lighter and darker areas in the picture shade it very well to show how the material moves softly.
Space
I chose this picture for space because it does a really good job of showing the round pace on the inside and outside of the circles.
Contrast
I chose this picture for contrast because It shows very similar patterns but in a completely different color.
Activity: In this activity, we had to find pictures that fall into the elements and principles of art. We needed 12 pictures for this scavenger hunt. We then had to present our pictures as well as the definitions of the elements/principles they fell under. These are 5 examples of the pictures and elements I had taken.
Extension Activity: I would use this activity in a science class when we are learning about plants. I would challenge the students to go and find different plants/flowers that contain the different elements and principles of art. They will find things such as colors, textures, value, movement, and more.
